31 August 2026 - 6 September 2026The monsoon trough lay across upper northern and upper northeastern Thailand and upper Laos, extending into tropical storm “SAUDEL (2618)”, over the southern coast of China in the first half of the week. After that, in the second half of the week, the monsoon trough shifted southward and lay across northern and upper northeastern Thailand, extending into a low-pressure cell over the Gulf of Tonkin. Moreover, the moderate to rather active southwest monsoon prevailed over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand throughout the week. These conditions brought plentiful rainfall in upper Thailand mainly in the second half of the week. For the southern region, rainfall was mainly observed along the west coast of the region
By the way, the tropical storm “SAUDEL (2618)” over the upper South China Sea made landfall Guangdong province, China in the afternoon on 3 Sep. and weakened into a tropical depression in the evening, before subsequently degenerated into an active low-pressure cell.
